http://footballvideo123.com/football-live-stream-channel/
Sunday, June 17, 2012, at 2:45 PM (ET), Miejski Stadium, Wroclaw Czech Republic vs Poland match kick of time. At every meeting between the Czech Republic against Poland, a team that acts as the host must always win. Poland won three times, Rep. Czech won twice, and always scored two goals. The last time these two teams met at the 2010 World Cup qualifiers. Poland won 2-1 in Chorzow, but lost 0-2 in Prague.

Czech currently sit in 2nd Group A with three points from two matches, one point ahead of Poland at the bottom. If this fight ends in a draw, Poland is not going through to the quarter-finals and the Czechs will depend on the Greek fight against Russia. The whole team in Group A still more likely to qualify.

Poland-Czech Republic Preview

Getting their first win in a European Championship would be rather timely for Poland, assuring them of a place in the quarterfinals for the first time.
The Czech Republic also need a victory to reach the knockout stage, but may be without captain Tomas Rosicky.
Poland will try to overcome several of their own injuries while capitalizing on one to Rosicky as they face the Czechs on the final match day for Group A on Saturday.
Poland rallied to draw 1-1 with Russia Tuesday after squandering a lead to settle for a draw by the same score against Greece to open Euro 2012 on June 8.
Those results have put the co-hosts third in Group A, needing a victory over the Czech Republic to reach the quarterfinals. That's a stage the Polish have never reached, crashing out of Euro 2008 with a 0-1-2 record.
Surprisingly, that's the only other European Championship that Poland have ever qualified for.
The Czechs, runner-up in Euro 96 and semifinalists in 2004, are also looking to advance out of the group stage after reviving their chances following Tuesday's impressive 2-1 victory over Greece, getting both goals in the opening six minutes. That was a dramatic improvement after losing 4-1 to Russia on June 8.
While both the Czech Republic and Poland are looking for a win, a draw could only give the Czechs a chance at advancing via tiebreakers against the Russians and Greeks.
The Czechs may have to overcome Rosicky's absence after he suffered an injury against Greece and was subbed off at halftime.
"I have a problem with my Achilles' tendon and have no idea what to expect next, I'm afraid," Rosicky said. "From about the 20th minute on, I could barely walk."
If Rosicky can't play, that may only increase the pressure on Vaclav Pilar, known as the "Czech Messi." The midfielder has a goal in each of the last two games.
"I'm happy to score two goals," the 23-year-old Pilar said. "Now, we have a chance to advance."
Improved play in goal may be key to advancing for the Czech Republic. Legendary goalkeeper Petr Cech had a cross slip through his fingers and fall to Theofanis Gekas, who shot it into the open net, giving Greece a sign of life in the second half Tuesday.
That goal could help determine which teams reach the quarterfinals if tiebreakers are needed.
"It was my mistake. Who else is there to blame?" Cech said. "I'd been playing well till then, and I was determined I wouldn't let any in."
Poland are also dealing with injuries, as defender Damien Perquis (shin) and midfielders Dariusz Dudka (abdomen) and Eugen Polanski (knee) picked up minor injuries against Russia. It's unclear if they'll be available Saturday.
Still, the Polish will likely rely heavily on their trio of stars who are teammates at Germany's Borussia Dortmund - Robert Lewandowski, Jakub Blaszczykowski and Lukasz Piszczek.
Lewandowski scored against Greece, while Blaszczykowski's strike Tuesday earned praise as the best goal of the tournament so far.
"They play for a big club that won titles this past year, which is a testament to their skills," midfielder Ludovic Obraniak said. "Kuba is our captain, Lewy our top scorer and Lukasz is our solid right back and has been for a long time. The team turns principally around them."
While another strong performance and possibly a goal or more from Lewandowski would see Poland into the next round, that could also increase his value on the transfer market. It's been widely reported that Manchester United and other big clubs around Europe are showing an interest in the 23-year-old rising star.
"He's made an amazing amount of progress. I hope he continues to develop. He's a young man with big career ahead of him and some of the biggest clubs in Europe are interested in him," said Poland Football Federation president Grzegorz Lato, himself a star striker for Poland and the top scorer at the 1974 World Cup.
At the same time the Poles and Czechs faceoff in Wroclaw, group-leaders Russia faces Greece in Warsaw.

Russia-Greece Preview

http://footballvideo123.com/euro2012.html
The Euro 2012 future of both teams will be at stake Saturday when Greece meet Russia in Warsaw in the final round of games in Group A.
The two countries have met four times previously at the Euros - including in the group stage of the last two tournaments - with Russia winning all four matches. However, 2004 champions Greece know a victory over the group leaders would see them through into the knockout stages.
With just one point from two matches, a win in Warsaw would see Fernando Santos' side draw level with the Russians and go through at the expense of either Saturday's opponents or the Czechs - depending on the other result.
"It's a final for both of us," said Santos. "We are going after one result; our rivals can go through with a draw.
"My faith in my team is total. It's the same faith I had back in the autumn after our draw in Latvia. Back then it was tense and we needed a victory against Croatia to have any chance of qualifying. I believed in that team, I said so, and afterwards I was vindicated. I am saying the same now. We must take all our passion onto the pitch and I am sure we will make the Greek fans happy."
One way to make their fan base happy would be to play with a lead, something they've yet to do. Greece have started on the back foot in both matches and trailed the Czechs 2-0 just six minutes into Tuesday's match, but Panis Gekas pulled one back in the 53rd minute.
Santos has hammered home the need for a strong start with so much at stake.
"Our preparation has been spot on and the players are motivated. However, we have ended up chasing games. We managed to equalise in our first match, but could not do the same against the Czech Republic.
"The only thing I can do is point out the mistakes to the players, but they are perfectly aware. I am sure that they will show more intensity in the next match and everything will go fine.
"I am considering some changes to the line-up as I am looking for quick thinking when in possession and pressure when we're not. We will evaluate our players and their form, as some have played 180 minutes so far and we'll decide from there."
Greece are without Kostas Chalkias (hamstring) and Avraam Papadopoulos (knee), but Giorgos Fotakis should be fit after a thigh problem. Centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos returns from his one-game ban after being sent off in the opening game of the tournament.
Russia may still go through with a defeat, but a draw would guarantee their progress to the latter stages. However, after manager Dick Advocaat stated that Russia have played the best football at the tournament so far, the Group A leaders failed to confirm their place in the round of eight after being held to a 1-1 draw with co-hosts Poland on Tuesday.
"I think judging by how the game developed, we dropped two points," admitted Russia goalkeeper Vyacheslav Malafeev. "We couldn't hold the advantage, as Poland pushed for a goal right after we'd scored, with their home advantage.
"I don't think they had an impressive game and we could have gone on and won the match. I think it's always difficult to play in such an atmosphere. They counterattacked well, while on many occasions we weren't as quick as we'd like. We played better and faster against the Czechs."
Alan Dzagoev netted his third goal, tying him with Germany's Mario Gomez and Croatia's Mario Mandzukic for the tournament lead, and Andrey Arshavin leads all players with three assists.
Russia will hold a late fitness test for goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev, who has yet to play due to a knee injury, and defender Yuri Zhirkov is trying to shake off a knee injury suffered in Tuesday's draw.
The other two teams in Group A are the Czech Republic and Poland, who meet in Wroclaw at the same time Saturday night.
All four teams can still advance, although the permutations are complicated. A win by either Poland or the Czechs would see either into the quarters with Russia or Greece, depending on the result in Warsaw. A draw in Wroclaw would see the Czechs through if Russia win or draw, but Poland would advance with a victory by Greece.

England-Sweden Preview

(AP) -- LONDON (SE) - Kiev plays host to the pivotal game in Group D when Sweden play England at the Olympic Stadium.
Both teams are in need of a win to keep their Euro 2012 future in their own hands, with Sweden losing 2-1 to Ukraine and England drawing 1-1 with France in their respective opening games. Facing the prospect of a tournament exit with a defeat to England, Sweden talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic admitted to being disappointed to have lost to the tournament co-hosts.
"We shouldn't have lost," said the AC Milan forward. "We had good chances to score goals. We were winning 1-0, then they scored to make it 1-1 and another to make it 2-1 from a corner and that just can't happen. But we have two games left to do better.
"I felt a bit nervous in the first half, but we started the second half better, we played better and held the ball and were a bit more daring. But that sums up football; things start to go well and you concede a goal and then a second goal after that.
"We just have to focus. Two great matches lie ahead of us against two great teams and we will do much better. We will just prepare for them and do even better. We can learn not to throw away a lead in the manner we did and to be a bit more daring. It isn't just about one game."
England have never beaten Sweden in a competitive match - a run that includes three European Championship meetings - but impressed defensively in their opening match with France. However, the players visibly tired in the high temperatures in Donetsk, and manager Roy Hodgson admits there may be fitness concerns for Friday's game.
"I will have to assess the freshness of my team and see whether they are able to do that again," said Hodgson. "Scott Parker and Steven Gerrard are both over 30 and had to work really hard. I'm not the only coach wondering 'can they do it every four days?'
"My gut feeling, after a good recovery day on Tuesday, a sensible training day on Wednesday and sensible recovery day on Thursday, is that it will be very hard for me to leave people out. If we said 'we're going to give you a rest because it's too much to play two games in four days,' some of them would have us up against the wall.
"But what we've got to make certain of, is that if they can't, or start to show signs of fatigue, that others are ready to go in and do exactly the same job. The mood in the dressing room is exceptionally good because we have shown we can handle difficult conditions, against a France team of that quality, and come away with a good result."
The other two teams in Group D are co-hosts Ukraine and group favourites France who meet earlier on Friday in Donetsk, with Ukraine looking to seal a quarter-final spot with a win.

France-Ukraine Preview

LONDON (SE) - Co-hosts Ukraine partied well into the Kiev night after a resounding opening performance by Andriy Shevchenko put them on top of Group D.
They will travel east to the mining town of Donetsk with an eye on reaching the knockout phases of the European Championships as they face Laurent Blanc's France on Friday night.
Making their tournament debut, Ukraine fell behind by a goal in the second half Monday against Sweden before Shevchenko's brace gave the home side a 2-1 victory and three crucial points.
The 35-year-old Shevchenko is playing his last tournament for Ukraine after there were questions whether he would even be included in Oleg Blokhin's line-up. In addition, he was bothered by numerous injuries but put all of that to rest on a frenzied night in the nation's capital.
"I feel that I am 10 years younger," Shevchenko said. "I really couldn't imagine I could play in the European Championship. I had a lot of problems with my knee and my back."
The player affectionately known as 'Sheva' to his adoring fans has made the home nation begin to dream.
"There were a lot of critics who asked why he was on the team," Ukraine goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov said. "Now he has shut them up."
Shevchenko said before the tournament that he wasn't sure if he could play all three group matches so it's not even clear how much action the striker will see Friday.
Blanc, meanwhile, knows all about the momentum of playing a major tournament at home as a World Cup winner with Les Bleus in 1998.
"(Shevchenko) gave hope to a whole population," Blanc said. "I'm pleased for him, because he's someone I like a lot."
Ukraine will advance to the quarter-finals with a victory, and will win the group with three points Friday if England do not defeat Sweden. France and England are tied for second with one point after they drew 1-1 Monday in Donetsk.
Samir Nasri equalised for France in the first half after they went a goal down, but Blanc's side never found a winner despite dominating the English after the break. Nasri created a stir when he ran away in celebration after his goal and shouted "Shut your mouth."
"These are individual and personal reactions. They are always something we don't always expect," Blanc said. "He was happy to have scored a good goal."
Blanc inserted midfielders Hatem Ben Arfa and Marvin Martin in the second half against England, and the coach has hinted he may make changes.
"We will make changes if we think there are some players who can bring something more to a game like this," he said.
The French were a bit frustrated since Real Madrid star Karim Benzema was forced to drop deep numerous times with the English defending in huge numbers. France finished with a 15-1 edge in shots on goal.
Blokhin, meanwhile, was critical for what he felt was a poor finish for his side in the Sweden match. Such criticism made veteran striker Andriy Voronin smile.
"Blokhin hasn't once been happy, even with our best games," Voronin said. "He always shows us our mistakes so that we don't repeat them."
A neutral atmosphere greeted the French in their first match at the Donbass Arena, but that won't be the case now after Ukraine has lifted the entire nation.
"The people will be behind the team more than ever now," Blanc said. "It's going to be a hard game, there's no doubt about it, but we will prepare ourselves in the same way we have planned."

Despite an opening-game draw against Germany, Germany has not lost any of their swagger, nor will they lose any confidence in their footballing philosophy.Vicente del Bosque has come under criticism for his decision not to field a recognised striker in the opening match against Germany, which left Germany without a focus to channel their assaults.Spain are definitely a side that makes your mouth water with their matchless style of play and the expectation that accompanies winning major international tournaments in succession.

Netherlands Vs. Germany, 2012 European Championships: Oranje About To Get Juiced

The Netherlands can't afford to lose on Wednesday, and depending on what happens in the early game, they might need a win against Germany to reasonably stay alive in Euro 2012.

Jun 12, 2012 - The Netherlands and Germany were clear-cut favorites to advance from Group B before Euro 2012 began. Denmark and Portugal are quality teams, but they really weren't supposed to contend with the big two. Then, Germany needed a late header from a previously poor striker to steal a 1-0 win, while the Netherlands were outplayed in a 1-0 loss to Denmark.
Germany are still in good shape even though they didn't look anywhere near as good as expected, but the Netherlands are in need of a result on Wednesday to keep their quarterfinal hopes alive. A draw gives them a chance, but unless Portugal defeats Denmark outright earlier in the day, it wouldn't give them a lot. They're going to need to be aggressive against Germany.
This could mean that Bert van Marwijk abandons the strategy that got him to the Euros without incident, as well as to a World Cup final. His team needs goals, and they need a midfielder who can pass from deep positions. Nigel De Jong and Mark van Bommel could very well walk out of the tunnel on Wednesday evening, but don't be surprised of one of them -- that would be De Jong -- is left on the bench. Whether Rafael van der Vaart moves back or Kevin Strootman enters, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Dutch make some sort of attacking change.
If Germany was at their best, this might be a risky move. And considering both how good Mesut Özil has been and how well Holland's double pivot shut down Christian Eriksen, it's probably a risky move no matter what. But it's considerably less risky than it would be against the best version of Bastian Schweinsteiger. Germany's star midfielder hasn't looked like himself since he broke his collarbone in February, and it was fairly obvious in Germany's game against Portugal that they'd be better served with Lars Bender providing some energy, or Ilkay Gündogan helping them to keep the ball.
Joachim Löw is loyal to his starters, however, and he's almost certainly going to stick with the same 11-man team that defeated Portugal. Van Marwijk is considerably less likely to do the same.

Key matchup - Philipp Lahm vs. Arjen Robben

Lahm is one of the best fullbacks in the world, but he plays right back for Bayern Munich. He's spent plenty of time as a left and right back for both club and country, but looked a little bit out of place for Germany against Portugal. He'll need to be on his game against his club teammate and the Netherlands' most dangerous player. Robben gets (fairly) criticized for being too selfish with the ball, but even though that causes him to squander chances, he still has absurd pace and dribbling skills. With all due respect to Wesley Sneijder and Robin van Persie, he's Holland's biggest attacking threat.

Is Mats Hummels the best defender in the world?

On the evidence of his performance against Portugal, probably. Thiago Silva doesn't get the benefit of playing in competitive matches this summer, so we'll be nice and not allow Hummels to pass him in the awesome defender pecking order, but it's getting close. Van Persie was solid, but wasteful against Denmark, and is going to have a tough matchup with Hummels. The Dutchman might be a little physically overmatched, which leads to another question.

Is it time to unleash the Hunter?

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar made the entire Bundesliga look bad week after week with his performances for Schalke this season. He has 31 goals in 54 appearances for his country. It's tough to bench van Persie, and the Netherlands need a passer in midfield more than they need another forward, but Huntelaar might be worth introducing into the game. He doesn't have anywhere near the technical quality or tactical awareness of van Persie, but he's physically imposing and he finds the net when his team doesn't look like they're going to create anything.
Projected Netherlands Lineup (4-2-3-1): Maarten Stekelenberg; Jethro Willems, Ron Vlaar, John Heitinga, Gregory Van Der Wiel; Mark van Bommel, Nigel De Jong; Ibrahim Afellay, Wesley Sneijder, Arjen Robben; Robin van Persie
Projected Germany Lineup (4-2-3-1): Manuel Neuer; Philipp Lahm, Holger Badstuber, Mats Hummels, Jerome Boateng; Sami Khedira, Bastian Schweinsteiger; Lukas Podolski, Mesut Özil, Thomas Müller; Mario Gomez

Netherlands Vs. Germany, Euro 2012: Lines, Odds And Picks

http://footballvideo123.com/euro2012.html
This is it for the Netherlands. If they lose here they might as well kiss their chances at the knockout stages goodbye, which isn't particularly good for a team with eyes on the trophy. Oh, and they have to do it against Germany, one of the title favorites. Cry, Holland, cry.
Lines: Germany, pick 'em (-130). Netherlands, pick 'em (+110).
Odds: Germany, +140. Netherlands, +180. Draw, +240.
Over/Under: Over 2.5, -105. Under 2.5, -115.
This one has Germany written all of it, but the question here is whether to take the -130 or the +140. Obviously the -130 is safer, but does anyone think that the Netherlands can handle Mesut Ozil. If you're not sure, go with the -130 because the idea of the Dutch getting through the impenetrable Mats Hummels is hilarious, but the +140 is tempting. Roll with that if you want the payout, which is worth the risk.
The over/under isn't worth betting. Rumors out of the Netherlands are that they are experimenting with Rafael van der Vaart in a double pivot and Dirk Kuyt at right back for this match. Will they actually do that? Won't they? Betting on the over/under with that much up in the air is foolish.

Denmark vs Portugal LIVE Commentary

http://euro2012video.biz/commentary/denmark-vs-portugal-live-commentary-a6.html
A header midway through the half from Pepe, and then a superb strike from Helder Postiga looked to have sewn up the game for Portugal. But a late header from Nicklas Bendtner means we really have got a game on our hands. As always do send in your comments via the chat box. And that's it. Nani's cross was the last action of the half, with the scoreline here in Lviv: Denmark 1-2 Portugal. 45′ Nani travels forward down the right. He gets a low cross in, but Andersen gets down and collects the ball. In the meantime, Helder Postiga is on the halfway line, holding his face. 44′ Betting editor Jim Knight is here again: "It's 2-1 and Denmark hit back, Nicklas Bendtner gets himself in on the goalfest with a header from close range. Where will the pendulum swing next? Denmark are 17/20 for the next goal, Denmark are a tempting 21/10." 43′ OH! It really is end-to-end stuff here. Nani, from the right-hand side, crosses to the near post, but Helder Postiga can't quite get across Kjaer enough to head home. What a game this is turning out to be. 41′ Assist Michael Krohn-Dehli 41′ Goal Nicklas Bendtner GOALL! And Denmark are back in it! A cross from J. Poulsen goes to Krohn-Dehli on the left-hand post, who heads it back across goal for Nicklas Bendtner to nod in from two yards out! From nothing, the Danes are back. 39′ Denmark expert Michael Hansen is not happy: "More bad defending from Denmark. They look frustrated and the defenders seems to have no confidence, not being able to clear the ball and marking the players they are instructed to mark." 38′ Denmark look to get back in the game almost immediately. Christian Eriksen, on the edge of the area, hit a scorching effort at goal, but Rui Patricio was on hand to save low to his left. 36′ Assist Nani 36′ Goal Hélder Postiga GOALL! And it's 2-0 to Portugal. Helder Postiga this time with the strike. Nani, on the right-hand side of the area, strokes a ball across the box, and into the path of the Zaragoza man, who just passes it into the top right-hand corner of the net from eight yards out. 35′ The corner comes in from Meireles on the right-hand side, but Andersen seems to have recovered from earlier, and collects the ball well. 35′ OFFFF! The Real Madrid man strikes it, but it comes off the edge of the wall and out for a corner. 34′ It's Ronaldo running directly at the Denmark defence, again. He comes to the edge of the box, but Jacobsen bundles him over and concedes a free kick. This could be dangerous. 33′ Our betting editor Jim Knight is here with all the live odds: "Pepe opens the scoring with yet another header! They're the flavour of the tournament so far. Denmark now 12/1 for victory while Portugal are 1/4. The draw is 9/2. Can the Danes find a way back or is this Portugal kick starting their campaign? A long way to go yet." 31′ Clark Whitney on a collision between Rommedahl and Bruno Alves during that free kick: "Rommedahl seems to have picked up a knock on his ankle after that collision with Bruno Alves. Away from the ball, he's made one or two attempts to run but has quite a limp. Tobias Mikkelsen is warming up now on the touchline." 29′ Yellow Card Raúl Meireles 29′ The free kick is pumped in by Eriksen, but the Portuguese defence stay strong, and manage to clear away the danger. 28′ Andersen fires a long kick upfield, where Meireles handballs and gives away a free kick in a dangerous position, 40 yards from goal. 27′ The corner comes in, but Andersen collects easily this time. 26′ Portugal come forward almost immediately after kick off. Ronaldo has it in the centre of the pitch, looks up, and slips in Helder Postiga inside the box. The Zaragoza man takes a touch, but it tackled by Kjaer and the ball goes out for a corner. 25′ Something I missed whilst the goal went in from Clark Whitney: "Nani looks like he's taken a knock to the face during the goal celebration. He's on the touchline now and looks ok to continue, but is quite angry at someone!" 24′ Assist Joao Moutinho 24′ Goal Pepe GOALL! And it's Pepe for Portugal. The free kick was whipped in by Veloso, but was headed out for a corner by Kjaer. From the subsequent set piece, Moutinho this time curls it into the near post, where the Real Madrid man is there to head home. 1-0. 23′ Helder Postiga receives the ball near the halfway line, and tries to hold off the tackling attmepts of Agger. The Liverpool man gers a bit overexcited though, and concedes a free kick. 22′ Ronaldo shoots from the left-hand touchline, parallel with the 18 yard box. It's rubbish. And skies the bar by a mile. 21′ That's more like it from Ronaldo. On the left-hand touchline, he attacked the Danish defence, and forced a foul out of Simon Kjaer. Free kick to Portugal. 20′ Portugal expert Luis Mira on the game so far: "15 minutes are gone now, and this match is wide open. Denmark got off to a flying start and had four corner kicks in the opening minutes, but Portugal now seem to be reacting, though they are yet to test Stephan Andersen properly." 19′ OH DEAR! Ronaldo has his first chance to run at the Danish defence. From around 40 yards, he comes forward with the ball, plays a one-two with Meireles and then attempts to shoot at goal. The effort though, is a poor one, and goes well, well wide. 17′ Michael Hansen on the Zimling injury: "Jakob Poulsen was seen warming up before kick-off. Can it mean that Niki Zimling has not been fully fit today? He is coming off now, Morten Olsen took a gamble on him and it did not pay off." 16′ Substitution Niki Zimling Jakob Poulsen 16′ This doesn't look good for Zimling. He's not the sort to go down, and he certainly looks in some pain here. 15′ The right-hand side is going to be a big area of attack for Denmark. That time, Kvist tried to release Rommedahl, but the pass was slightly overhit and went out for a goal kick. Get that pass right though, and the Danes could cause all sorts of problems. 14′ The corner is whipped in by Veloso, and it's an absolutely stunning ball that is buzzed in from the Genoa man. Stephan Andersen, the Danish keeper, is equal to it though, and punches away the danger. 13′ Portugal come forward now with Nani down the right-hand side. The Manchester United man puts a cross in from the touchline, but Agger is there to head behind for a corner. 12′ More fan analysis from Clark Whitney: "Quite a sight in the stands as all the Danish supporters jump in unison - not only in their corner, but little pockets of red and white all throughout the area." 11′ Our Denmark expert Michael Hansen seems impressed with his team's start: "Chritian Eriksen is working much harder today than we are used to see from him. He is everywhere, trying to get the ball from the Portuguese. It seems like Morten Olsen has instructed him to roam freely. Denmark are attacking Portugal much more than expected but they are back defending as soon as they lose possession. Portugal look bewildered and haven't found a way to play in the usual fluent style. They are not allowed much time on the ball. Denmark are playing like the English team!" 10′ Clark Whitney has spotted something on the touchline: "Miguel Lopes is already off the bench warming up for Portugal. Perhaps Joao Pereira has pulled a muscle?" 8′ Portugal come forward now with Joao Pereira. The Sporting full-back tries a deep cross from the right, but the ball goes miles over the head of Ronaldo, and out the other side for a throw in. 7′ It's Rommedahl this time with the ball for Denmark. He tries to open his legs and get round Coentrao, but the Real Madrid man puts it out for another Danish corner. It comes in again from Krohn-Dehli, but again Portugal head away. 5′ The corner comes in from the left by Krohn-Dehli, but it's played short this time, and Portugal manage to get two men out to stop the cross. Is there anything more frustrating in football than a short corner that doesn't come off? 4′ Christian Eriksen gets his first notable touch of the ball, and wins a corner on the right-hand side, after his cross was deflected out by Coentrao. It's whipped in by Krohn-Dehli, but Bruno Alves heads away. The head isn't far enough though, and Denmark have a chance. Kvist, inside the area, takes a touch, but his shot is blocked out for another corner by Pepe. 3′ Not for long though. Krohn-Dehli wins a free kick, and Denmark have a set piece inside the centre circle. It's played quickly out to the left-hand side and Rommedahl, but the 33-year-old loses it to Pepe, and the Seleccao have it back again. 2′ It's played back to Daniel Agger at centre back, who pumps it upfield to the head of Nicklas Bendtner. The Sunderland man though, loses out to Bruno Alves, and Portugal have the ball for the first time in the match. 1′ Here we go then. The second round of matches in Group B are underway, and it's Denmark who kick us off, going from left-to-right. Denamrk pelt out their anthem now. With Nicklas Bendtner in full voice. Like always! First up is the Portuguese national anthem. And it turns out Nani is quite the singer. The teams are leaving the tunnel, and are lining up ahead of the anthems. Denmark expert Michael Hansen again: "Portugal need a win today. Hopefully Denmark can punish them on counter attacks before they can regroup. But we need to concentrate mainly on defending as I expect Portugal to come forward in numbers. If we survive the first twenty minutes we will settle down and gain a lot of confidence that we can keep Portugal from scoring." Jose Mourinho was here in Lviv on Saturday to watch Portugal against Germany. Today though, he's in Jakarta, apparently. Get him. Just over 10 minutes to go until kick off here in Lviv. And the atmosphere is already electric. Can Denmark cause another upset? Or will Portugal finally get their tournament underway? Make sure you stick around to find out. Mr Whitney again, and it seems Ronaldo hasn't yet turned up: "Cristiano Ronaldo has taken more than a dozen shots from distance, each further from goal than the last, but has yet to hit the target. Bruno Alves just showed him up with a 25-metre screamer into the top corner." There seems to be a lot of love for Ronaldo on Twitter and on our Facebook page. What do you think are the chances of him finally turning up to a major tournament? Let us know via the chat box. Clark Whitney again, on the ground in Lviv: "In warm-up, the Danes just had three consecutive shots rattle the woodwork before a fourth went just over the bar. Good news for Andersen that he can't be scored past? Or bad news for the outfielders, not finding the net?" This will be the 13th time these two sides have met, and Portugal have much the better record: winning seven, drawing two and losing three. And that fact is one of mine. Don't forget, we'd love to hear your comments on this afternoon's game by getting in touch via the chat box. That thing there on the right-hand side. With his place confirmed in the lineup today, Christian Eriksen has become the youngest Danish player ever to reach 25 caps. I would claim that marvellous fact for myself, but it's via Michael Hansen. He knows his stuff ladies and gentlemen. Clark Whitney, who's in the Media Centre in Lviv, gives us the lowdown on the fans this afternoon: "Seats are starting to fill up here in Lviv, and the players have just made their way onto the pitch for warm-up. Looking around the stadium there is a real cosmopolitan feel: flags from not only Denmark and Portugal, but Poland, Bulgaria, Canada, England, Ireland, Hungary, Germany Czech Republic, and many more can be found. The Danes seem to have carved out an enclave in one of the corners - their fan embassy expects between 3500 and 4000 supporters tonight." Equally, Michael Hansen, our Denmark expert, says this on the lineup: "Denmark start with the same players and formation as in the Netherlands game. Morten Olsen trusts his players and his tactics. But I think the players will have a more defensive attitude. The two full-backs will not be as attack-minded like they were on Saturday." Our Portugal expert Luis Mira has his say on the Seleccao's starting XI: "Paulo Bento chooses the same players and formation from the match against Germany, with Helder Postiga starting up front despite enduring a disappointing night on Saturday. The tactical system may be the same, but Portugal are expected to enter this game with a more attacking display as they are in desperate need of a win." Portugal (4-3-3): Rui Patricio; Joao Pereira, Bruno Alves, Pepe, Coentrao; Veloso, Moutinho, Meireles; Nani, Ronaldo, Helder Postiga. The lineups are in, and both teams have gone with the XI's that started in both their previous games. Denmark (4-3-3): Andersen; Jacobsen, Kjaer, Agger, S. Poulsen; Kvist, Eriksen, Zimling; Krohn-Dehli, Bendtner, Rommedahl. Our man on the ground in Lviv, Clark Whitney, has said tonight is 'make or break' for Cristiano Ronaldo if he is to prove himself worthy of this season's Ballon d'Or. What do you think? If Ronaldo has a good tournament, can he be considered the best player on the planet? Let me know by tweeting @goal_intl. Portugal, on the other hand, were thoroughly disappointing against pre-tournament favourites Germany. They clearly set out for the draw, and only when Mario Gomez headed home 15 minutes from time, did they look like causing a threat to Manuel Neuer's goal. There will be no such approach tonight though; lose, and Portugal are halfway to going out of the competition at the first stage. In their previous game last Saturday, Denmark were somewhat fortunate against an extremely wasteful Netherlands side, who attempted 28 shots on goal. It was a first half Michael Krohn-Dehli goal that eventually won it for De Rod-Hvide, but they will hope they're not so open defensively tonight. It's not just against the Danes that Portugal have had a tough time of it recently. They are yet to register a win in 2012, having won just once in their last seven games, scoring only once in ther last four. And when you boast a front three of Nani, Helder Postiga and Cristiano Ronaldo, that's pretty poor. The Euro '92 winners topped their qualification group ahead of tonight's opponents Portugal, beating them last October 2-1; goals from Krohn-Dehli and Bendtner that night took them clear of the Seleccao, and they never really looked back. In fact, the Danes have finished above the Portuguese in the last two qualification groups, having toppled them pre-World Cup 2010. Before the tournament, many assumed that Denmark would be the whipping boys of the Group of Death. But a win today for Morten Olsen's side, and they can theoretically assume that they'll be through to the quarter-finals of Euro 2012. It would be a huge turn up for the books, but when you assess their recent form, it's perhaps not that much a surprise. Good afternoon everyone, and welcome to Goal.com's LIVE, play-by-play coverage, of Denmark vs Portugal from Lviv Arena. I'm Alex Mott, and I'll be your commentator for today's crucial Group B clash.

Germany-Netherlands Preview - euro 2012

Total football could be on the verge of a total flameout.
Still stinging from their shocking loss to begin the European Championships, the Netherlands face a daunting challenge to regroup Wednesday night when they play Germany in a Group B match at Kharkiv, Ukraine.
The Dutch were tipped to make a deep run in Poland and the Ukraine, but now they face the very real threat of failing to survive the "Group of Death" following a 1-0 upset defeat to Denmark on Saturday. While the Oranje controlled possession for much of the game and created quality scoring chances - most notably Arjen Robben hitting the woodwork - the goal came on the lone counterattack by the Danes, and the Dutch showed a surprising lack of urgency in the second half trying to find the equaliser.
"It was the only dangerous action of Denmark," Netherlands captain Mark van Bommel said. "I'm speechless, because these three points are very important."
The sluggish play by the Dutch was stunning given their staggering amount of offensive talent. However, Robin van Persie never found that sublime first touch he displayed with Arsenal throughout the match, fellow striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar had his only quality chance smothered after entering as a substitute, and Robben and Wesley Sneijder failed to create a flowing offence for the 2010 World Cup runners-up.
"There were maybe four, five, six players who had chances," Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk said, refusing to place the blame squarely on van Persie.
"I refuse to throw in the towel," he added. "We must beat Germany. We have done that before."
While the debate will again swirl around van Marwijk to choose between van Persie and Huntelaar as his starting striker, the Dutch backline may receive some fortification as defender Joris Mathijsen appears fully healthy after missing Saturday's match due to a hamstring injury. Van Marwijk said Mathijsen likely will replace Ron Vlaar if he is able to play.
As the Dutch realize anything but three points may scuttle their chances to reach the round of eight, Germany have an inside position to one of those quarterfinal berths following their 1-0 win over Portugal on Saturday. Mario Gomez's header on a deflected cross from Sami Khedira in the 72nd minute provided the match's lone goal after Germany survived a first-half blast off the underside of the crossbar by Portgual's Pepe.
The three-time European champions played a pragmatic and strong match with plenty of possession offensively, and relied on the dynamic backline duo of Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels to neutralize Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in their final third. The duo will again have to marshal Die Mannschaft's defence versus a Dutch squad shut out for the second straight match in a major tournament following its 1-0 extra time loss to reigning Euro champions Spain in the World Cup final.
"I played against Klaas-Jan Huntelaar this season and did well, but not so well against Robin van Persie, who scored three goals in two matches against us," Hummels told UEFA's official website. "The Dutch will have to attack more than the Portuguese did.
"We will have to try to be in command while at the same time keeping a balance in defence."
Gomez, who scored 12 goals in helping Bayern Munich reach the Champions League final, may have held off Miroslav Klose to make a second straight start after netting his 23rd goal in 53 international appearances.
The Dutch beat West Germany in the semifinals of the 1988 tournament en route to their only Euro title, and the squads played to a 1-1 draw in the most recent Euro meeting in group play in 2004.
The teams complete group play next Sunday when the Dutch play Portugal at Kharkiv while Germany plays Denmark simultaneously at Lviv.

Portugal-Denmark Preview

Portugal will be looking for their captain and star player Cristiano Ronaldo to rediscover his goal-scoring form Wednesday when they face Denmark in a Group B match in Lviv, Ukraine.
Ronaldo stormed off the pitch and straight down the tunnel after the 1-0 defeat against Germany in Portugal's opening Euro 2012 match on Saturday. The Real Madrid star had a frustrating 90 minutes against Joachim Loew's side, having spent most of the game out on the wing and starved of possession.
Ronaldo was Portugal's top scorer in qualifying for the Euro 2012 finals, with seven goals in eight games, and is his country's third-highest all-time scorer with 32 goals in 87 appearances.
After the Germany match, Ronaldo bemoaned Portugal's luck but remained optimistic his side can bounce back from that early defeat.
He said: "In the second half they had virtually one chance, and we hit the bar twice and had some big opportunities. (There was) a lot of bad luck and a lot of frustration because we knew we deserved more - a win or a draw.
"We have been playing well for several games and just haven't had the luck with our finishing. It's not due to efficiency; I think the main reason has been a lack of luck. Anyone who watched the match will have seen that we were better than Germany, and the chances speak for themselves. But now we have to pick ourselves up and continue.
"We have to take as an example 2004, when we also started with a defeat, but then reached the final."
Denmark, who were shock winners of the 1992 European Championship, caused another big upset on Saturday when Michael Krohn-Dehli's first-half strike secured a 1-0 win over the Netherlands. The Dutch, who were rated one of the pre-tournament favourites, wasted a hatful of chances as big-name strikers Robin van Persie and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar failed to deliver in front of goal.
Despite their victory, Denmark coach Morten Olsen insists his side could have played better against the Oranje and called for improvements against Portugal.
"If you have to beat a team like that - and the teams we still have to play - you have to play well but also have to be lucky," Olsen said after the Netherlands match. "We had other chances and the combination play was how we like to play and sometimes we found room.
"We could have played better, though, and we lost the ball sometimes in midfield - sometimes we played the final pass too quickly. They are things we have to do better against Portugal."
Denmark striker Nicklas Bendtner, meanwhile, has played down his side's hopes to reach the quarterfinals and insists the Danes remain the Group B outsiders.
"I think people still look at us and think we're the team that is not going to go through," he said. "We don't take anything for granted and think now we're fantastic and we can do everything. We still focus on the next game.
"We are very pleased to get the win (against the Netherlands)," Bendtner said. "Under the circumstances, it was a good win. And now we have to focus on the next two games because it's important that we follow this good result up, and don't let it slip away."
Denmark and Portugal were in the same qualifying group for the Euro 2012 finals. The Portuguese won their home match 3-1, while the Danes won 2-1 in Copenhagen. Denmark topped the group, forcing Portugal to beat Bosnia-Herzegovina in a play-off to reach the finals. They did it in style, winning 6-2 on aggregate.
The final Group B matches take place on Sunday, with Denmark playing Germany in Lviv and Portugal facing the Netherlands in Kharkiv.

Russia-Poland Preview

(AP) -- LONDON (SE) - Russia can book their passage into the knockout rounds of the European Championship with a victory Tuesday when they meet co-host nation Poland in Warsaw.
Dick Advocaat's side put on one of the class displays of the opening round of fixtures with a 4-1 trashing of the Czech Republic last Friday in Wroclaw. Alan Dzagoev scored twice and Roman Shirokov and substitute Roman Pavlyuchenko also found the target for the Russians, who are unbeaten in 15 matches and sit atop Group A with three points.
A victory will clinch a spot in the quarter-finals and give Russia top spot in the group if the earlier match between Greece and the Czechs ends in a draw.
"The task is not completed yet and we cannot afford to take it easy," Pavlyuchenko warned. "We expect harder games to come."
Poland will be without suspended goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, whose red card in the second half of Friday's 1-1 draw with the Greece means that Przemyslaw Tyton will get the start. Tyton became a national hero and earned a huge ovation for his penalty save on Giorgos Karagounis that helped the Poles earn a valuable point in the tournament's opening match in Warsaw.
"It was nice that they recognized me," Tyton said. "I'm particularly happy because my whole family was at the match and for the first time my mom saw me play live."
Although Poland were happy with the point, they were left lamenting a poor second half after entering the break up a goal with the Greeks down to 10 men.
"I can tell you we were very well prepared but we were under great pressure, great stress, and I think it was a big burden for this very young team who have not played in a big tournament before," coach Franciszek Smuda said.
While striker Robert Lewandowski, midfielder Jakub Blaszczykowski and defender Lukasz Piszczek demonstrated great potency in the first match after leading Borussia Dortmund to their second straight German Bundesliga title, the rest of the Poles looked flat and uninspired - particularly in the second half.
Their mood is in stark contrast to the Russians after their flying start to the tournament with a result that was the opposite of a 4-1 opening defeat to Spain in Euro 2008. Russia recovered to make the semi-finals four years ago, but this time are in pole position thanks to chemistry among seven players from Zenit St. Petersburg
"Most of this team has played a lot together and been successful together," Advocaat said.
Arsenal midfielder Andrei Arshavin displayed smooth link-up play with Shirokov and Konstantin Zyryanov in the opener as Russia looked fluid throughout.
The only concern was striker Aleksandr Kerzhakov's inability to finish. Advocaat does not sound as if he will turn to Pavlyuchenko or Fulham striker Pavel Pogrebnyak instead.
"I would pick Kerzhakov again," the Dutchman said. "I thought he played very good football, but he forgot to score."
Poland have never won a match at the Euros, but can take solace in winning their lone home match with Russia 3-1 in 1998 in a friendly in Chorzow. The Poles cannot be eliminated Tuesday.
"The tournament is still open," Smuda said. "We have two matches ahead of us."

Czech Republic-Greece Preview

(AP) -- LONDON (SE) - Czech Republic will be looking to keep their Euro 2012 future in their own hands when they play Greece in Wroclaw, Poland, on Tuesday evening.
The Czechs know anything other than a win against Greece would see their chances of progressing to the knockout stages rely on the other result in the final round of games in Group A, and will be desperate to put in an improved showing following their 4-1 defeat to Russia on the opening day.
"We really wanted to make a great impression in the first match of the tournament and, most importantly, not to lose it," said Vaclav Pilar, who netted the Czech's lone goal. "We made a lot of mistakes and we didn't defend very well, so it was a bad game.
"We gave them the room to play, which was bad. We knew that Russia have good forwards and I think we could have handled them, but they were simply better when they had the ball and we weren't strong enough in one-on-one situations.
"Jaroslav Plašil laid on a great pass to me right between their two full-backs for the goal, but I'm not happy. I would have been far happier if we had achieved a good result. We're angry now, even more so after losing by such a scoreline."
The match will also be a chance for the Czechs to avenge their semifinal exit to Greece back in 2004. Only three members of that Greek squad remain, with one of those - Kostas Katsouranis - pleased with the way the team bounced back from going a goal and a man down to draw their opening game against Poland 1-all.
"In the first 20 minutes our rivals got the better of us," said Greece vice-captain Katsouranis. "They took the initiative and were boosted by their crowd. We were not organised.
"In football there's no time-out for the coach, but when Sokratis Papastathopoulos was sent off it was almost half-time and we were able to go to the dressing room, collect ourselves and get some advice from Mr. Santos.
"In the second half we came out more focused, changed the tactics. We started linking up better and detected fear in the eyes of our opponents. By then we knew we could turn the match around."
A win for Greece would see them needing just one point in their final game against Russia to reach the knockout stages, and manager Fernando Santos believes his team will learn from the lessons of the first half against Poland.
"We need to be more fresh in Wroclaw," said Santos. "We will work on a few details and watch videos of the Czechs.
"I will talk to my players and see if they know what went wrong and why they couldn't play as we had planned. I've written all the mistakes they made on a big board, under the heading 'What we should avoid'."
Czech captain Tomas Rosicky is expected to start after shaking off a calf injury in the defeat to Russia. Greece are without Avraam Papadopoulos after the centre-back was ruled out of the tournament with knee ligament damage. Papastathopoulos will watch from the stands as he serves a one-match ban for his red card.
The other two teams in Group A are co-hosts Poland and group leaders Russia, who meet later on Tuesday evening in Warsaw.
